The second of my valentine’s day movies was Beautiful Creatures. A story about a young witch who is met with the unexpected: falling in love with a cute once ‘popular’ boy facing a turning point in his life. A movie nothing new to the big screen, but with a special little twist. She is going to be turned either ‘good’ or ‘bad’ what stands in her way, a curse for loving mortals. Watch out Ethan!
I didn’t have a ton of expectations going into it. I knew that I’m in love with stories which revolve around special powers and fantasy, but paired with romance and you get a Twilight themed movie, which could prove entertaining. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of acting and the progression of the story arc. Honestly, I’m addicted and it has become a guilty pleasure which I have now decided to read as well. It won’t be the best movie out there nor will it win any awards, but it was an entertaining two hrs. The actors’ connections were what gripped you into that South Carolina middle of no where town. It isn’t a “light” movie, but a good matinee movie.
Entertainment factor: 8/10
