The epic zombie war has begun and who are you going to call? Brad Pitt. He is the only one that could have carried that role off perfectly. The movie’s synopsis only gives it so much leeway. United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself. What am I supposed to get out of it? Well, it is just another zombie movie…. WRONG.
This movie is surprisingly captivating. I knew the effects and the overall production was insanely costly and that the end was re-shot after being told it was a crap movie, but I must say, they did a great job fixing it. The movie goes beyond just a zombie invasion, but a battle of how countries would or would not come together in the face of universal obliviation. I mean, why can’t we work together sending medicine and cures to the world now? Well.. there are obvious political implications/debates that I won’t get into now.
I must say I was quite happy with this movie. To be honest, the zombie CG wasn’t awesome – I am sure they did the best with what they had given they gave themselves a mountain to climb over that grew every time they were close to the top… literally of zombies. Overall, it is definitely a renting movie or even a matinee.
